The author of this paper investigates dream images based on two different contexts: that presented by Grete Stern’s photomontages, and the analytic context. For this latter, the author situates the reader in the theory of dreams, the dreaming process and dream symbols. Then uses a dream to illustrate the movements of the dreamer and analyst in search of meanings through the dream images that arise in the session, and compares these images with Grete Stern’s photomontages.
