HIRCHZON, Cecília Luiza Montag. Winnicott’s letters. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2010, vol.33, n.50, pp. 83-88. ISSN 0101-3106.

This text is based upon a book by Robert Rodman about Winnicott’s letters addressed, for the most part, to contemporary analysts. Through this correspondence, one apprehends the epoch’s psychoanalytical scenery, where gradually emerge his affinities with some analysts, polemic positions with others, comparisons between different approaches and, eventually, the circumscription of his own contribution. From these letters, the author’s personal characteristics are outlined, revealing his multifaceted and often paradoxical behavior. At the end, a quotation by Merleau-Ponty enhances the fact that to this work could only correspond the life of this unique human figure who was D. W. Winnicott.
