Abstract

HERRMANN, Leda Affonso Figueiredo  and  HERRMANN, Fabio. Political power does not corrupt, it reveals. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.57, pp. 73-91. ISSN 0101-3106.

Fabio Herrmann's last conference, when he was already sick, has been hereby transcribed and prepared as an article. The theme of political power is thought psychoanalytically, similarly to Freud's work on cultural formations. The author depicts three models of thought to consider the question of power in today's society - particularly political power - pursuing the point at which interpretation reveals itself inside out; such interpretation reveals how power is composed in forms of social domination and of the psychic subject. Herrmann ends his considerations on power referring to that which pertains to or occurs within psychoanalytic circles. To Psychoanalysis our world - increasingly psychic - imposes the task of working by the emersion of meanings, that is by the psychoanalytic method's peculiar condition of revealing what is potentially in the psychic subject and in our culture.

Keywords : Political power; Psychoanalytic method; Cultural formations.
