The author discusses varied approaches regarding the use of money for the payment of psycoanalysis sessions. The article initially defines money according to three different perspectives: Real, Symbolic and Imaginary; it then addresses the relation between money and personal pulsions, along with its symbolic representations; with the Other and the subjective constitution; finally, it elaborates considerations about the apparently formal aspects of the act of payment for the clinical practice.
