Abstract

SILVA JUNIOR, Nelson da. Secrecy and performativity: A psychoanalytic reflection on the weakening of identity narratives. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2015, vol.38, n.60, pp. 83-98. ISSN 0101-3106.

We have analyzed two cases of advertising and one on the political treatment of the right to secrecy (Snowden) that occur in a pastiche form (Jameson). This performative way entails the weakening of the power of revelation of truth, thus putting into question the main therapeutic tool of psychoanalysis. However, the Freudian metapsychology gives rise from the theses of Beyond the Pleasure Principle, to a model of open subjectivity. This model is able to articulate the pastiche form of secrecy with the weakening of identity narratives, and the latter with better ways of treating secret.
