Abstract

ALI, Nabil Sleiman Almeida. Body of Diadorim: abjection, God and Devil. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2016, vol.39, n.62, pp. 167-182. ISSN 0101-3106.

This paper is a brief reflection between literature and psychoanalysis. It considers the body composition of Diadorim - female and male character - in the book Grande sertão: veredas by the brazilian writer João Guimarães Rosa, according to sensuous and prevented perception of Riobaldo. At first, Diadorim presents  himself to Riobaldo as a man on a mission of revenge for his father in a battle by establishing a partnership with the friend. However, this relationship becomes for both deeply loving, experienced as a conflictual storm by Riobaldo and as jealous silence, but calm and steady, by Diadorim. At the end of the book there is the revelation of the biological body of Diadorim as a woman. But the story of the protagonist, aided by the "reader" as if it were an analyst, reveals that Diadorim is also the hybrid of the narrator and of the narrative.
