Abstract

CATHARIN, Verônica; BOCCHI, Josiane Cristina  and  CAMPOS, Érico Bruno Viana. Psychoanalysis and cinema: the human being as a cinematographic being. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2017, vol.40, n.64, pp. 143-157. ISSN 0101-3106.

The seventh art, invented in the late nineteenth century, established itself as one of the most intense social experiences of the twentieth century. The power of touching the viewers that the cinema possesses can make explicit its extremely common connection with psychoanalysis. The reach of art to fascinate, surprise, interrogate and also distress is only conceived from the captive audience of others. It is intended to address issues such as: Is it possible to conceive the human being as a cinematographic being? Are the mechanisms and elements of cinema comparable to the structure of psychic functioning? In addition to these questions, we have chosen to defend the point of identification as a support for aesthetic enjoyment. It is also proposed to understand the processes that constitute the dream and to make considerations about the similarities with the cinematographic work.

Keywords : Cinema; Dreams; Identification; Psychoanalysis.
