This essay intends to analyse two short stories by Clarice Lispector, “The Foreign legion” and “Clandestine happiness”, having as analytical operator the phenomenon of envy and his modulations. The interface of psychoanalysis and literature is the field in witch the present study is situated, since Freud and Melanie Klein, among others, are references to think the envy in the process of subjective construction . The main focus in this reading will be the text's stylistical procedures, the theory being an instrument to understand the meaning of the narratives.
