The author organizes a psychoanalytic understanding of different expressions of creative act and creative experience and of the egoic resources inherent in both processes. Tolerance of difference is necessary for development and for creativity. But difference can also provoke envy, and when experienced in a way associated with feelings of injustice and humiliation can potentialize their destructiveness, which hinders change in the psychoanalytic process.
