Abstract

JUNQUEIRA FILHO, Luiz Carlos Uchôa. The aesthetic of loneliness. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2018, vol.40, n.65, pp. 169-183. ISSN 0101-3106.

This paper intends to discuss the “aesthetic” of loneliness, understood as a “cultural derangement”. Four sceneries are pointed out to illustrate this condition. The first, discusses the Fall from Paradise, and how Adan and Eve arrange themselves to overcome loneliness. In the second, we follow Oedipus lonely search after his identity. In the third, we put in the stage the figure of the “soldier-children”, born after the fratricidal struggles held after the independency of African ex-colonies and, also, those Mexican children that nowadays are abandoned in USA border, in the hope of being collected by the Immigration Service. Finally, we focus Homo Internauticus, the one that is only interested in the lonely promotion of a “Self show”.

Keywords : Aesthetic; Loneliness; Paradise Lost; Oedipus; Soldier-children.
