Abstract

TRINCA, Ricardo T.. Francesca Woodman: figurations of anguish and the missing point of perspective. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2018, vol.40, n.66, pp. 151-160. ISSN 0101-3106.

The author presents some images shot by the American photographer Francesca Woodman, willing to bring up for discussion how far certain images or representations stumble precisely upon what them themselves are incapable of showing. These images are described, on the other hand, as prints of masochist and feminine aspects in the human mind, as much as implicit narratives of helplessness, disaster and of disintegration; “dyingness” figures. Lastly, thinking of the anguish sterilization and how it would point to the dimension of the Real, unboardable and unrepresentable.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Francesca Woodman; Real; Photography; Abandonment.
