Resumen

REYES, Rô. A scene for the interview. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.69, pp. 21-38. ISSN 0101-3106.

Journalist George Sylvester interviews Freud at his summer residence, where he is convalescing and lovingly cared by his daughter and Paula, the housekeeper. It's evident his proximity to the female universe in the relationship with them and in the visit of Lou Salomé. Sylvester wants to know more about the life story and updated ideas of the creator of psychoanalysis. He is delighted with the cultural legacy of psychoanalysis, but questions its effectiveness in terms of increasing human happiness, as his investigation reveals our dark side. Freud speaks of himself, of life and death equally governing the world, of what the clinic can contribute and where it will be insufficient to guarantee permanent happiness, given the psychic divisions and endless human conflicts regarding cultural demands and restrictions.

Palabras clave : Psychoanalysis; Legacy; Life; Eros; Death.
