The article follows Joaquim Nabuco's life, from birth to death, highlighting critical moments of his trajectory in politics, diplomacy and intellectual life. The description of his circulation through aristocratic salons and erudite circles, his performance in institutional, international and street politics, and the relevance of his main works, aims to highlight the value of life for a brilliant member of the social elite in the transition from traditional society to the modern in Brazil.
