AZEVEDO, Ana Maria Andrade de. The trajectory of becoming an analyst. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.71, pp. 70-77. ISSN 0101-3106.

In an attempt to approximate some models offered by mythology - models that point to a constant desire of overcoming the difficulties and the pain inherent to our condition as human beings - the author intends to establish parallels and correspondences that aim at the intense conflict between omnipotent and arrogant aspects confronted to the limitations and the acknowledgement of reality. Amongst the mythical sagas that survived the ruins time, the Odyssey - that recounts Ulysses's return to Ithaca - is chosen for deeper consideration, since its hero incarnates both the desire for a magical condition (liberating him from his limits) and the expression of the rational men's condition of not letting himself be carried away by his desires. The vicissitudes lived by this character suggest a possible approximation to the process of knowledge and truth seeking, present in human beings since the beginning of life. The author believes and proposes that it is possible to establish parallels between Psychoanalysis, insofar as it understands the search for knowledge, and Ulysses's trajectory in the Odyssey, justifying the presentation of this paper in the SBPSP's Institute of Psychoanalysis.
