Abstract

ALICEDA, Rozany T. Pozza. Augusto Matraga and the loving encounter with our hated parts. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.72, pp. 95-103. ISSN 0101-3106.

In Homero's poem, the flow of sea water, with its unpredictability and fury, like emotional waves breaking on the edges of subjectivity, they are dragging Ulysses to the unfathomable of himself. In Guimarães Rosa's novel, "The time and turn of Augusto Matraga", It is through the rough hinterland of Minas Gerais that the distressing journey towards the appropriation of human beings takes place. In this article, the author describes her journey with the protagonist who, from a dramatic break in the linearity of his life, begins a long process of self-elaboration, an odyssey journey that will result in the expansion of his ability to think and tolerate his own emotions, thus becoming a metaphor for the development and expansion of the mind. Without using technical terminology and allowing the theory to be understood from the text, this article aims to indicate a path that leads the reader to a psychoanalytical view of the emotional world.
