KUPERMANN, Daniel  y  TARDIVO, Renato. Journey and exile in the movie The secret life of words: a reading inspired by the traumatogenesis of Sándor Ferenczi. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.72, pp. 119-128. ISSN 0101-3106.

The secret life of words, a movie directed by Isabel Coixet, explores the potential of the encounter between a nurse, Hanna, and an injured worker on an oil rig, Joseph. Hanna leads a dull and numb life; Joseph demands care, as an aid to basic needs. Both had intensely traumatic experiences. The movie, which deals with the difficulties of living, is shown to be about the difficulties of speaking. From the perspective of Sándor Ferenczi's traumatogenesis, The secret life of words is a story of dedication to the other and the transformative power of a sensitive encounter. His argument confronts us with the limits of testimony and the perlaboration of radically traumatic experiences, disturbing our unwavering hope in the healing powers of the word.
