Abstract

D'AGORD, Marta Regina de Leão; TRISKA, Vitor Hugo Couto; ARALDI, Etiane  and  SUDBRACK, Renato Pernigotti. Psychoanalysis, psychopathology and literature: ways of use of phantasy. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2010, vol.42, n.2, pp. 313-332. ISSN 0101-4838.

This work presents a study about perversion, focusing on sadism and masochism, proposing a dialogue between literary sources and psychoanalytic theory. The appropriation of psychoanalytic terms sadism and masochism produced the metapsychological concept of sadomasochistic drive. In the study of the phenomenon of the pairs of opposites sadism and masochism, Freud proposed that the drive is characterized by a transformation and may go from sadistic to masochistic and may be back sadistic. This transformation process is also found in fantasy. Freud and Lacan approached the grammatical structure to drive as returning. This work concludes that the drive's process has the topological structure of the surface of a Moebius strip. This topological analysis supports Freudian hypothesis of a sado-masochistic drive.

Keywords : perversion; masochism; sadism; literature; topology.
