Abstract

FUKS, Betty Bernardo. Two proposals for contemporary psychoanalysis. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2011, vol.43, n.2, pp. 355-376. ISSN 0101-4838.

Psychoanalysis is structured around two axes interconnected in an inexorable way. Besides being a praxis underpinned by ethics, it calls the analyst to take the place of a critic of the culture that he witnesses. In the name of this structure Lacan warned that one that cannot be tuned to the subjectivity of his era should give up being an analyst. Under the echo of this warning, the present work addresses two criticisms of Freud to the culture he witnessed and, thereafter, proposes some qualities of the work of this great master, the invaluable contributions of Lacan and the very virtue of psychoanalysis, as outputs to the resolution of clinical and theoretical dilemmas that analysts face today.

Keywords : sexuality; jouissance; cruelty; culture; transmission.
