The question which guides our ideas in this paper is the relationship between body marks and horizontal identifications. Nowadays, our civilization, which is governed by the Other's inconsistency, questions some classic signifiers, such as the father, the master, the chief. We do not validate anymore the representative evaluation of the Other and each one elaborates their own masters' signifiers. In this context, tattoos and body modifications are the way some people find to identify themselves with the ones who share the same trace of enjoyment. This kind of identification allows certain individuals to find stabilizations and a place in the field of the Other.
