Abstract

CORPAS, Flavia dos Santos  and  VIEIRA, Marcus André. Bispo do Rosario and the representation of the materials on Earth. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2012, vol.44, n.2, pp. 405-422. ISSN 0101-4838.

This paper is a study on the delirium and the artwork of Bispo do Rosario as ways to treat the Real, solutions that the subject might find when confronted with whatever seems to be inapprehensible. From the interviews made with the artist himself and the reading of his artworks, we propose a new approach to delirium, based on another inter pretation of Bispo's mission. Understanding this mission as the representation of "different materials existing on Earth for the use of humans", it was possible to highlight the address of this artwork not only towards God, as it is usually described, but also towards human beings. By highlighting the mundane destination of the objects he created, we demonstrate the ways through which his works acted as a supplement strategy of the delirium, allowing better possibilities of social bond. Far from reducing this artwork to delirium, we will aim at the complexity which defines the connection between them, in the specific case of Bispo do Rosario.

Keywords : Bispo do Rosario; art; psychosis; delirious metaphor.
