Abstract

VALE, Sabrina Cristiane  and  CASTRO, Júlio Eduardo de. Time and the psychoanalytic act in the direction of the treatment. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2013, vol.45, n.2, pp. 439-451. ISSN 0101-4838.

This article presents an investigation on the relationship between time and the act of the psychoanalyst in the direction of the treatment. Time was taken by philosophers as having a single dimension - the chronologic time which separates events in past, present and future. However, Freud introduces the concept of a posteriori, and later the timelessness of the Unconscious. Lacan led to the ultimate consequences the standard time subversion in the treatment performed by Freud. In his clinic, Lacan has used other criterion than the clock: the act of the psychoanalyst, thus marking a new temporality in the treatments. The act of the psychoanalyst is the demarcator of the temporality that matters to psychoanalysis in the treatment direction.

Keywords : time; psychoanalytic act; treatment direction; psychoanalysis.
