Abstract

SEGAL, Isis Fraga  and  BARROS, Rita Maria Manso de. Devastation and jouissance in Schoenberg's opera Erwartung, Opus 17. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2014, vol.46, n.1, pp. 114-133. ISSN 0101-4838.

Women's love madness is seen in history, literature, mythology, music and psychoanalysis as a subject that leads writers, poets, historians and psychoanalysts to produce texts, stories and papers. Although much has been examined and written about this subject, open questions still remain in our clinical work. Using the concepts of devastation and jouissance as a starting point, this article invites the reader to reflect upon the feminine passionate love as linked to the devastating, unlimited and deadly jouissance. For this purpose, we will discuss fragments of Schoenberg's opera Erwartung, Opus 17.

Keywords : jouissance; feminine; devastation; Schoenberg.
