The article centers upon the clinical treatment taking into consideration the death drive and one of its most impressive manifestations: the effects on the baby's health resulting from the intense rejection by his mother. The Freudian concept of the death drive is investigated from the time of its emergence in the history of psychoanalysis, and especially from S. Ferenczi’s contributions and J. Lacan’s teaching.
