Abstract

Adèle, the last daughter of the poet Victor Hugo left numerous writings and intimate, enigmatic newspapers. Following her step by step in her writings, we find that the young woman adopted three different feminity positions. First, she is the bacchae, "the beautiful and crazy woman", the one god Dionysios used to make fall into ecstasy. Then, Adèle will become The Woman, The primordial Woman, The woman God. Finally, she will attempt to become the woman of an English lieutenant, and she will follow his hadow across the seas and oceans, in the direction to a new world.
