Abstract

TRICHET, Yohan  and  HAMON, Romuald. Richard Durn - how idealism can turn people to crime.Translated byMila Signorelli. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.47, n.2, pp. 188-207. ISSN 0101-4838.

The authors set about discerning the subjective logic which led Richard Durn to murder and seriously injure a large number of municipal councilors in Nanterre, France, in March 2002, before committing suicide. Although this tragedy has given rise to a large number of articles focusing on the political dimension of these crimes, little research has been conducted into the rationale for the deeds perpetrated. This article seeks to address the latter aspect, based on a number of clinical documents.

Keywords : Richard Durn; homicides; ideal; suicide; melancholic psychosis.
