Abstract

KEGLER, Paula  and  MACEDO, Mônica Medeiros Kother. Narratives of excess: the potential of the word in psychoanalysis. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2016, vol.48, n.1, pp. 171-190. ISSN 0101-4838.

The word is a substantial element in the psychoanalytical theory and practice, both as an enunciating potential and its elaborative possibilities. Given the devastating domain of the death instinct and the impossibility to represent the instinctual excess, the impasse of (im)possible narratives appears. This article aims to discuss the role of the word in the psychic work by capturing and bonding the instinctual intensities. The narrative shows to be a possible path for containment and creation of the historicizing from the lived. Then, the active position of the subject before the word pronounced enables to (re)compose links and to produce associative paths. This way, it becomes possible to evoke psychic constructions producers of significance which blocks the thanatic prevalence of the repetition. Therefore, narrative experiences turn into a necessary resistance and vital before the harmful of instinctual unrepresentability.

Keywords : narratives; psychoanalysis; death instinct.
