The purpose of this article is to take the phenomenon of the negative therapeutic reaction as a privileged expression of the hypothesis that herein I call: psychologicalemptiness. The negative therapeutic reaction aims to consider the effects of the destruction drive in subjective aspects, constituting a permanent challenge to the psychoanalytic practice. Subsequently, a few clinical strategies attuned to this particular type of psychological distress will be outlined.
