Abstract

GUERRA, Mariah Neves; BURGARELLI, Cristóvão Giovani; CHATELARD, Daniela  and  MAESSO, Márcia. The death-cut of the signifier: between Antigone and Equivalents. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2017, vol.49, n.1, pp. 62-79. ISSN 0101-4838.

Discussing death in the tragedy Antigone, Lacan (1959-1960/1997) developed what came to be the second death of the subject, which led to the signifier's function of cut and denaturalization. The main issue of this article is what would be the signifier in its death-cut function. Therefore, taking upon the Lacanian position, according to whom the function of the beautiful indicates the subject's relationship with his/her own death, we proposed a dialogue with the photographic series "Equivalents" by Stieglitz, who produced the denaturalization of images.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; signifier; death; art.
