Abstract

CUNHA, Maicon Pereira da  and  BIRMAN, Joel. Walls of emptiness: Narcissus revisited. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2017, vol.49, n.2, pp. 30-49. ISSN 0101-4838.

The aim of this article is to think about the narcissism today. Considering that this concept must be understood beyond its characteristic of being a central element in the construction of subjectivities, we outline the idea of narcissism founded on the notion of self-destruction. Besides thinking on the death aspects, we emphasize that this narcissism reveals a condition that points to the fragility of the social bond. In this sense, some facets of violence today will be highlighted, underlining the narcissistic aspects in question from the condominium logic, where the social relationship is questioned, in that it settles a self a-partment in relation to others.

Keywords : narcissism; contemporaneity; violence.
