Abstract

In this paper, we describe the effects of the intersections of the cinema and psychoanalysis, using Frédéric Fonteyne's film, "An affair of love" (Une liaison pornographique). Both in cinema and in psychoanalysis, the frame, built out of a hole in the wall, shows that what is at stake is the field of the Other. We will bring together these two points in the fantome. The film's plot shows that the partnership of the couple is grounded in the realization of a fantasy, that is, in the impossibility of building a love relation. The film demonstrates Lacan's thesis that "Only love alows jouissance to condescend to desire" (Lacan,1962-1963/2005, p. 209). It also brings to light that the subject has, in the Other, essentially the objet a.
