Abstract

GOMES, Patricia da Silva  and  LIMA, Nádia Laguárdia de. A world without adults: subjective effects of adolescents adrift. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2019, vol.51, n.1, pp. 134-158. ISSN 0101-4838.

This article presents a discussion about adolescence, based on the characteristics of contemporaneity. In this way, among the different readings of today's scholars, it was decided to deal with the topic using the theorization on hypermodernity and, in dialogue with authors of psychoanalysis, it was possible to consider the effects of the capitalist discourse in this context. When we approach the structural inconsistency of the Other, we advance in our reflection to construct the hypothesis that the present epoch is marked by the unveiling of its inconsistency. We add that such unveiling is not without consequences for the adolescent subjects, there is the imperative of enjoyment and the emptiness of the place of the adult in the contemporaneity that affect identifications and the social bond. In the logical time of the adolescence, the subjects have to invent solutions to deal with the malaise resulting from the encounter with the real of sex.

Keywords : adolescence; psychoanalysis; Other; hypermodernity; inconsistency.
