SOUZA, Vinicius José de Lima  e  NEVES, Tiago Iwasawa. The political potency of the real. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2019, vol.51, n.2, pp. 7-30. ISSN 0101-4838.

In the last four decades, neoliberal rationality has advanced on the social scene, determining the framework of possibilities of politics through the generalization of competition as a universal principle of conduct and enterprise as a privileged mode of subjectivation. In addition to determining the ends of institutional politics, neoliberal rationality has also promoted new forms of social subjection through the determination of the modes of individuation and sociability that must be assumed by the subjects to have their behaviors recognized. The balance of this advance is the absence of effective transformations in politics, since any transformation outside the framework delimited by neoliberalism is considered an impossible realization. In view of this context, the present theoretical essay aimed at promoting an articulation between psychoanalysis and politics through the extraction of political power from the concept of real present in the work of Jacques Lacan. The negativity of the Lacanian concept has proved fruitful in allowing us to argue that politics cannot be thought from a regime of management of the possibilities of a given situation, since politics is par excellence a real event, that is, it is precisely from the realization through disruptive processes of what until then was considered impossible by the dominant regime.
