Abstract

GURSKI, Rose; STRZYKALSKI, Stéphanie  and  PERRONE, Cláudia Maria. The awakening of adolescence, youth suicide and current death policies: issues for the field of education. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2020, vol.52, n.2, pp. 357-383. ISSN 0101-4838.

In this article, we start from the notion that the complexity of clinical and educational aspects presented by contemporary adolescence evokes ethical, political, social and individual issues. Renewing the bet on the irreducible twist between the social and the psychic and, at the same time, refusing simplistic explanations of purely organic causes, we seek to problematize the worrying increase in the youth malaise of our time, revealed by increasing rates of depression and suicide among young Brazilians. How have teenagers experienced the most delicate of subjective passages in the midst of the configurations of the current bond? What do such symptomatic manifestations have to say to us about the conditions of our historical time? What does not go well with this group that, so often, insists on asking us "you know?". What interlocutions can be thought about between this social problem and the field of education? These and other questions were developed from a return to the theme of adolescence from a psychoanalytic perspective. Then, an episode from our recent history was analyzed, which, in a complex way, articulates themes such as violence, social ties, suicide, adolescence and school environment: the Suzano Massacre. Finally, gathering some speeches by political exponents of our society, we seek to reflect on the psychic effects of an adolescence lived in the midst of the spread of hate speech based on death policies.

Keywords : adolescence; psychoanalysis; education; suicide; death policies.
