Abstract

NOBRE, Márcio Rimet  and  FRANCA, Cassandra Pereira. Revisiting the transference: a Freudian course. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2021, vol.53, n.1, pp. 149-177. ISSN 0101-4838.

The article traces the concept of transference over the years of theoretical production of Sigmund Freud. It is a work of theoretical-conceptual revision, with the intention of revisiting some fundamental points of the psychoanalytic method. It is structured from a division with respect to three moments: 1) the origin of the method, from the onset of Freud's clinical investigations; 2) its development, which has in its center mainly the set of technical articles in the early 1910s, therefore, under the first topic; 3) the contributions occurred after the theoretical turn of the second topic. From the conceptual point of view, the article concerns a division from three different meanings assumed by the transfer throughout its development in Freud's doctrine: initially as resistance to analytical work; in sequence, as a suggestion, due to the influence of the analyst; and later, as a repetition, a tendency observed by Freud, especially in postwar neurotic patients. Throughout the work, other concepts are covered due to the proximity to the central theme, such as defense, repression, interpretation and the binomial free association and floating attention.

Keywords : Transference; resistance; repetition; psychoanalytic technique.
