OMIZZOLLO, Poliana; SILVA, Milena da Rosa  y  TABORDA, Lizia Pereira da Rosa. Experiences of (dis)continuity and the possibility of come to be in the shelter: between encounters and possibilities. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2021, vol.53, n.2, pp. 138-163. ISSN 0101-4838.

This paper presents a fragment of a larger project, which addressed the possibilities of come to be in a sheltering institution. We proposed to perform a reading operation (Jerusalinsky & Berlink,2008) of the relationship established between infants who are living in residential shelters and their respective caregivers. We discussed the observation of two infants, with 14 and 18 months-old, sheltered in two different residential shelters in Porto Alegre (RS - Brazil). We conducted four visits to each house, in which each infant was observed in relation to their educating agent, using the Clinical Reference Indicators for Child Development (IRDIs). We also seek, from fundamental concepts of D. Winnicott's theory, support to reflect on what has been shown in evidence in the relationship between infants and carers in a way that the conceptions of environment and (dis) continuity of care served as the basis for this reading, allowing the emergence of some notes: even emphasizing the right of continuity of care that every child has, the separation of the mother / family is not necessarily traumatic in itself. We understand, therefore, that even if they have a first mark (deprivation of the original family), there is a possibility that the baby develops satisfactorily in the context of institutional care, as long as he can establish an encounter with someone/environment available to support him, to provide an experience of continuity and to prevent that this initial suffering makes him incapable of come to be.

Palabras clave : Infant; sheltering institution; IRDI; Winnicott; psychoanalysis.
