Abstract

KLEIN, Thais. Maps of contemporary psychoanalysis: the language in André Green and Thomas Ogden. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2023, vol.55, n.1, pp. 57-77. ISSN 0101-4838.

The article draws a kind of map that seeks to contemplate the issue of language in the thinking of André Green and Thomas Ogden. The objective is to present diverse ways of conceiving language in its articulation with the analytical situation, pointing out the importance of discussing this theme. The issue of language in André Green's work has a main place: based on a dialogue with Pierce's semiotics and a certain concept of thirdness, Green emphasizes the function of symbolizing. Ogden, in turn, in line with his notion of thirdness, highlights the expressive aspect of the language that is not restricted to the symbol, emphasizing its use in the analytical situation. These two conceptions contain points of encounters and disagreements, encompassing different notions of thirdness and clinical perspectives - the objective is to make a dialogue between the theories about the language of these two important names of contemporary psychoanalysis.
