Abstract

BRANDAO JUNIOR, Pedro Moacyr Chagas; OLIVEIRA, Suelen Carlos de  and  TRIANI, Ilda. Psychoanalytical contributions to a narrative review of childhood depression. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2023, vol.55, n.1, pp. 208-229. ISSN 0101-4838.

Depression is a public health problem, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) that may have affected nearly three hundred million people in the World in 2018. The mood changes that configure this disorder can occur in any age group, as the scientific literature points out. Studies on its occurrence in childhood are still considered scarce, with the need for further research. In view of this panorama, the article presents a narrative review of the scientific production on the theme of childhood depression, with subsequent categorization and analysis of thematic content of the publications found. Childhood depression stands out as a disorder that requires attention, especially regarding diagnostic criteria, as well as treatment proposals and the risk of adapting them to the ideals of childhood in our time. The results were discussed in the light of the conceptual reference of psychoanalysis, suggesting the articulation between diverse knowledge and its possible discursive meetings.

Keywords : Depression; childhood; psychoanalysis.
