Abstract

SIMOES, Marina Silva; KYRILLOS NETO, Fuad  and  CALZAVARA, Maria Gláucia Pires. Psychoanalysis and Education: what can a psychoanalyst do in a school nowadays?. Tempo psicanal. [online]. 2023, vol.55, n.1, pp. 275-300. ISSN 0101-4838.

This scientific article investigates what the psychoanalyst can do in a school in order to help with the big demand of discipline and performance from the students. As a research method we used the bibliographical survey, research in three education system websites and the memory from listening the students in the everyday school environment. We made a brief history of the school's insertion in Brazil, and we understood that the discipline and performance, although there is a constructivist method inserted at the schools, has deep roots in the traditional way of teaching. Looking through websites, it was possible to identify a massive resource investment in the educational material as a developer of the student's success. This way, the student's book is presented as a primary source for the success and the teacher is a mediation tool, necessary for the entrance of the student in the university. Based on the Psychoanalysis, we comprehend that the efficiency of the teaching method does not depend only on the correct use of the books, but in the student's subjectivity. In the attempt of answering the school's demands based on the current social ideology, which highlights the performance as a new professional success' mandate, the student gets in a conflict with their subjective construction. Therefore, the psychoanalyst will deal with the consequences of this imperative ideological academic and social from the performance of the subject. In conclusion, besides the students, the teacher is also disciplined by the education method and, this way, is reduced to the condition of reproducer of contents that are on the books. The psychoanalyst has an important function in the desalination of the relations in the school's daily routine that interferes so much in the school functioning and also in the student's performance in addition to the psychological distress of the students and of the educators.
