Freud's famous clinical report known as "The wolf man" and the re-interpretation of its central dream are the basis for our review of the "primary scene" as (re)built by Freud in this case. Special attention has been given to the simultaneous occurrence of phobia and severe physical illness. In this article, we present the hypothesis that a nonsexual body trauma was essential to the development of the signifier chain in relation to the patient's animal phobia and, the longstanding mental disease (neurosis?). The concept of trauma in Psychoanalysis and its relation with the body and with anguish is discussed in this scenario.
