Abstract

CHAVES, Messias Eustáquio. Art and cure in the Freud's mind. Reverso [online]. 2006, vol.28, n.53, pp. 119-124. ISSN 0102-7395.

This article raises some questions about the meaning of art and cure in Freud's mind. Is the artistic invention -painting, poetry, sculpture, music, dance - a demonstration of the author's unconscious? Is it a form of inscription comparable to dreams and symptoms? Is the process of artistic invention capable of causing effects such as instinct sublimation and repressed contents re-significations? Freud and Alain Badiou help us find our way to the answers.

Keywords : Art; Cure; Writing; Poetry; Sublimation; Fantasy; Symptom; Sexuality; Repression; Return of repressed; Transposition; Unconscious; Working through; Re-signification; Artistic invention.
