Abstract

This article discusses some aspects on the Freudian theory of anxiety which were included in Lacan’s teaching. Freud emphasized the relation between anxiety and castration, whereas Lacan highlighted the dimension of joy, stemming from the triple structure: real, symbolic and imaginary. Particular aspects on the appearance of anxiety in hysteria, obsessive neurosis and phobia are also pointed out.
