Abstract

MEDIOLI, Cristina Gaoni. Femininity’s courses. Reverso [online]. 2008, vol.30, n.55, pp. 53-57. ISSN 0102-7395.

Based upon Joel Birman’s analysis of the modern version of the Carmen de Bizet Opera, the author herein discusses the development of the concept feminity, focussing on the renouncement of negative connotations that were imposed by the 19th century’s bourgeous sexual ethics. Special attention has been given to new horizons and possibilities for relationships between sexes that have been brought on by the contemporary assumption of femininity.

Keywords : Phallic register; Mono-sexism; Register of differences; Femininity.
