Abstract

FURTADO, Dimas Barreira. From the yes to the no: comments about denial. Reverso [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.61, pp. 29-37. ISSN 0102-7395.

Freud wrote a small, although dense, text in 1925, named the denial (Verneinung). He shows how denial may act as a disguise for an statement. It makes a suspension, but not an repression acceptance. In another text in which Freud analyses the wolf's man, he talks about a more radical denial, the Verwerfung. Freud, and Lacan many years later, worked on the meaning of an affirmative statement (Bejahung) which is linked to the idea of assimilation and expelling, both fundamental in the construction of subjectivite. So the subject is builded from the distinction between inner and outer influences. This text analyses these concepts and makes considerations about their interconnections.

Keywords : Denial; Affirmation; Forclosure; Expelling.
