Abstract

MELLO, Carlos Antônio Andrade. Sonata to Kreutze. Reverso [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.64, pp. 31-35. ISSN 0102-7395.

Leon Tolstoi's Kreutzer Sonata gives us the opportunity to recognize, through fiction, the confirmation of something that we frequently witness in clinical work when dealing with the vicissitudes of love: jealousy and its forms of presentation. There being, Freud's development in some neurotic mechanisms in jealousy, in paranoia and in homosexuality has become a valuable reference. The character created by Tolstoi seems to experience jealousy in the very manner described in Freud's writing; layers are exposed that range from what could be described as normal or competitive jealousy to that of delirium. His history ends in a way that is similar to many headline stories that are published and broadcast in contemporary media.

Keywords : Love; Hate; Normal or competitive jealousy; Projected jealousy; Delirious jealousy; Paranoia; Homosexual impulse; Bisexuality.
