Abstract

LINDENMEYER, Cristina. The unacceptable death drive.Translated byBernardo Maranhão. Reverso [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.69, pp. 53-59. ISSN 0102-7395.

The death drive is one of the most controversial concepts within the psychoanalytic community. Such notion, though, has had a major importance in Freudian theory and method. This text proposes a return to the birth and the evolution of this concept, as well as to its influence and its effects upon the analytic cure. Thus, it is under the sign of instinctual dualism, in which the death drive is to be taken into account, that the author interrogates herself about the clinic.

Keywords : Life drive; Death drive; Compulsion to repeat; Anguish.
