Abstract

MELLO, Carlos Antônio Andrade. Eyes wide open. Reverso [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.70, pp. 33-35. ISSN 0102-7395.

In a story rich in characters and events, the text lingers on the figure of a myopic boy, whose short-sight puts him in disadvantage not only within his family, in which his siblings treat him as “the fool” and he is deprived from fatherly name, but also to what concerns the misteries of the world, leading him to think that he knew more than he could bear, and to fear the full and glaring contemplation of the unverse of passions, of sex, pain and death.

Keywords : Scopic drive; Alienation; Unknwoledge; Death; Fear from castration.
