Abstract

KALLAS, Marília Brandão Lemos de Morais. The contemporary subject, the virtual world and psychoanalysis. Reverso [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.71, pp. 55-63. ISSN 0102-7395.

In considering the virtual world as a window or show case in which transformations of the contemporary subject’s “modus Vivendi” can be witnessed, the author approaches the subject’s new forms of discontent from a psychoanalytic point of view, having, as a back drop, changes relative to temporality, spatiality, thinking and language. The author emphasizes the importance of rereading psychoanalytic clinical work through the lenses of the concepts of the death drive, trauma and anxiety.

Keywords : Contemporary subject; Virtual world; Discontent; New symptoms; temporality; Spatiality; Thinking; Language; Death drive; Trauma; Anxiety.
