Abstract

SIMPLICIO, Carinna Gonçalves. A psychoanalytical on autonomy to die. Reverso [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.71, pp. 83-89. ISSN 0102-7395.

Based upon Freud's texts called Civilization and its discontents (1929-1930) and Beyond the Pleasure Principle (1920), this article deals with the individual autonomy to decide about life and death, as a personality building process. A bibliographic study with descriptive and explanatory nature was conducted, addressing the issue of the autonomy to die, which is related to the possibility of human beings deal with their own fragility and finiteness.

Keywords : Civilization; Pulsion; Autonomy; Death; Suffering.
