Abstract

FURTADO, Dimas Barreira. The eye, the look and the evil-eye. Reverso [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.71, pp. 91-98. ISSN 0102-7395.

This paper discusses an overview of the main propositions of Lacan, especially in his seminar 1964, on the scopic drive, in which he emphasizes on the distinction between the function of the eye and what it conveys through the look. A look that brings a mortal and paralyzing function, which in turn, breeds the power of the evil eye and their antidotes. Look and evil-eye which seem to be present in all cultures.

Keywords : Eye; Look; Scopic drive; Evil-eye; Blessing.
