Abstract

CARVALHO, Kátia Leite de. Sketch of a melancholic picture in Freud's theory and in Dostoevsky's literature. Reverso [online]. 2018, vol.40, n.76, pp. 75-81. ISSN 0102-7395.

In Mourning and melancholia, Freud tells us about the impoverishment of the self in the melancholic frame, which renders the subject incapable of any realization, besides presenting a strong feeling of degradation and inferiority. It emphasizes, among other aspects, the picture in question with respect to the loss of his/her object, as object of love. The proposal of this work is to illustrate, through the literature, such aspects in melancholy.

Keywords : Melancholia; Object loss; Libido; Mania.
